When Connie Viszlai was asked about what motivated her to start her business and make a success of it, she responded with a smile, “Being a catalyst for people’s “ah-ha” moments is so energizing. I am delighted when a client says “I can DO this!” especially after struggling through the challenges of getting there.” Her business ClearPoint Coaching and Facilitation provides Executive Coaching, leadership development and business team facilitation services to individuals and organizations helping them increase their effectiveness through collaboration and innovation.

It has been quite a journey for Viszlai as she earlier worked as a professional forester in the natural resource sector and held a variety of positions ranging from operations to leadership. Her role as strategist and facilitator introduced her to the Executive Coaching programs. Receiving certification and accreditation as an Executive Coach enabled her to provide professional services beyond her core industry.

Viszlai has learned a lot from her mentor while working for a consulting company. “I learned 3 key working philosophies from my mentor:

  • lead from the middle
  • It is always better to “work- with” than to “push – against”
  • Plant seeds at every opportunity; you never know what may grow….”

She believes her ability to collaborate and seek out the common threads among people is her greatest strength. “Leading is not about you taking ownership of other’s responsibilities. Learning where to draw the line, and having the wisdom to allow others to step into their role is a valuable skill.”

Viszlai will share her knowledge and expertise with other women entrepreneurs and facilitate Women’s Enterprise Centre’s peer mentoring group in Vernon.
