Q.What inspired you to take the leap and start your own business?
A. Like many “mompreneurs”, I was inspired to start my own business after the birth of my two children. I had been working in the forest industry for several years and realized I didn’t want to return after my maternity leave. My husband and I both agreed we wanted our children to be raised at home and not in a daycare, so I began to look for something that would allow me to earn an income and be connected to the ‘adult’ world.

Q. What’s the biggest lesson you learned when starting your business?
A. I believe my biggest lesson was that a successful business isn’t born overnight. You can have several large ambitions and dreams, but it takes time for them to be realized, time for people to recognize and trust you and your services.

Q. What are your goals for the business?
A. My goals for momcafé Prince George are to attract successful corporate leaders, mom entrepreneurs, life coaches and other successful moms within the Prince George and local area to speak to moms on a variety of personal and professional topics. I want to ensure each event is a sold out success, maintain 100% customer satisfaction and become a household name for women wanting to network, be inspired, and learn something new.

Q. What is your greatest strength as an entrepreneur?
A. I believe my greatest strength is my ability to listen – listen to what my clients are looking for and what the community needs.

Q. What personal lessons have you learned as an entrepreneur?
A. I have learned so many lessons and also learned a lot about myself. I have learned to work through the fears of entrepreneurship and realized I have the courage and perseverance to get through obstacles that present themselves along the way. Being an entrepreneur has also reaffirmed to me that I have the most wonderful, understanding, and accommodating husband around!
