Elora Braden loves a good story. Her business Elora Braden Creative Studios helps people tell their own stories through visual and audio mediums. According to her, “whether that story is about their BIG DAY, or about the way a business helps their customers, storytelling is at the root of it all. Having those moments captured and presented in a meaningful way can mean so much.” Based in Golden, BC, Elora Braden Creative Studios produces primarily wedding videography and photography along with commercial projects.

Q. What services has Women’s Enterprise Centre provided you and how have these services helped you?
A. I've been able to jump start my business because of Women's Enterprise Centre. WEC provided me with funds to purchase professional equipment and supported me through the whole process of business launch. From insurance to licensing, there is a multitude of steps that had to be taken care of. WEC’s support has made me so much more confident about stepping out as a business owner.

Q. What inspired you to take the leap and start your own business?
A. I found my market niche when I noticed a booming wedding industry in Golden with many people travelling here to tie the knot in the beautiful surroundings. My passion in photography, film making and radio production has bloomed in these surroundings as well. Naturally I decided to combine the two!

Q. What’s the biggest lesson you learned when starting your business?
A. Take your time and consider many possibilities (like funding) before starting out.

Q. What are your goals for the business?
A. I'd like to grow my business here in Golden, and eventually branch out to cover destination weddings and events.

Q. What is your greatest strength as an entrepreneur?
A. I am a people person and enjoy working with others to make magic happen. For example, I’ve gathered a community of vendors in Golden to participate in a staged wedding to showcase our town to the wedding industry.

Q. What personal lessons have you learned as an entrepreneur?
A. Being an entrepreneur has given me an extra amount of confidence and faith in myself. Getting out there and talking to people is so helpful- and its much easier when you have a fancy business card to go along with that!
