Francyne Joe, All Nations Development Corporation, Kamloops
With a varied background in human resource management, Francyne Joe has always enjoyed helping others with her exceptional people skills. For more than 10 years, she owned a successful audio-visual business. Her desire to work with entrepreneurs in her community motivated her to join All Nations Development Corporation (ANDEVCO) in Kamloops. As a member of the Nlaka'pamux Nation, she has always wanted to work with aboriginal entrepreneurs. ANDEVCO provides advisory services and financial advice for aboriginal entrepreneurs and First Nations in BC.
Joe has always seen opportunity in every challenge and advises entrepreneurs to overcome fear of failure. “Don’t fear failure…face it, learn from it and know that you are better, stronger, for it. And a year from now, you’ll smile and think, ‘why was I so scared?’”
Her career has been inspired by several mentors. She has learned from them the importance of people in any organization, the value of community and leadership and the contribution of entrepreneurship to a community’s growth. One of her mentors inspired and encouraged her to work with aboriginal groups.
Keen to help other entrepreneurs in her community, Joe is looking forward to facilitating a Peer Mentoring Group in Kamloops. “Entrepreneurship isn’t for the faint-hearted – it takes a lot of hard work, sacrifices, and dedication. And we don’t have to do it alone – if we work together, we can support each other through the tough times and we can celebrate the triumphs!”
