Women's Enterprise Centre
It's your business. Start. Grow. Succeed.

It is so refreshing to be able to talk with other new entrepreneurs about concerns and triumphs in business because there are few other people who can understand. It is also great that we can have an interchange of ideas. -Florence Amundson, Mystic Dreams, Kamloops BC-

Have you been in business less than 3 years?

Early Stage Transitioners are those women who have been in business for less than three years. Assistance to these women will be made up of the following elements:

  • Taking The Leap to Entrepreneurship: A Guide to Help BC Women Make the Transion – A guide developed  to support women who are making the transition to self-employment. It will help women considering self-employment get a sense of what being an entrepreneur is all about.

  • Peer Mentoring Groups: A group of up to eight women meet under the supervision of a facilitator, an experienced entrepreneur who acts as overall supervisor and mentor for the group. Peer Mentoring Groups provide women entrepreneurs personal contact and the opportunity to brainstorm with others in their community who are facing the same challenges.

  • One-to-One Mentoring: Sometimes new entrepreneurs  need a positive, one-to-one relationship that shines a light directly on them and what they do best. One-to-One Mentoring is an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to learn to manage risk, to receive feedback and to develop their capabilities and skills with the support of a Mentor.

  • Mentor Advisory Forums: Delivered by teleconference, the Mentor Advisory Forums provide opportunities for women from around the province to discuss common issues they face in their businesses with a panel of experienced mentors.

Mentoring Champions

A Champion is ambassador for the Women’s Enterprise Centre mentoring program in their community. They help spread the word and promote the program and its benefits to local women entrepreneurs. A champion uses their connections and makes new ones to help recruit potential mentors and mentees. The Champion plays a very important part in the success of the program.
